July is Rotary International's “Maternal and Child Health Month”.
Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger. Rotary does this by providing education, immunizations, birth kits and mobile health clinics.

Eric Schmidt announced our next fundraiser - an Online auction. He has sent out two forms - sponsorship and items to all members. We are hoping that each member can get $500 worth of items for the auction which will be held the second or third week in September.

Tom Dunn, Emergency Manager of the Town of Hilton Head Island was the speaker at our July 8 meeting
We learned the hazards for Hilton Head Island are: tornados, waterspouts, earthquake, floods, wildfires/fires, winter weather, hurricanes, tsunami, pandemics and terrorism. Tom shared where the Emergency Managment base camps are for various levels of situations. It is important to have an Emergency kit and it should contain: food and water for 5 days; toiletries; prescription drugs, medical equipment, important medical records; clothing; ID, important papers, current photo; checkbook, credit cards; comfort items. He discussed evacuation, the BCSO re-entry pass system, and Recovery. During Hurricane Matthew there were 120,000 downed trees, 2 million yards of devris and $44 million Cell phon is the best tool for warning systems. NWS can over ride on the phone.
